800' drill on 100,000lb size rig in tight location

D&S Tech was hired by North America Wireline to supply the Fusion-Gyro for an 800-foot bore in Exeter, NH, for a river crossing. The decision to use the Fusion-Gyro was made due to the lack of space for a traditional Tru-Track coil and an environmentally sensitive wetland area that was off-limits. Jeff Owens of North America Wireline was trained by D&S Tech staff to operate the Fusion-Gyro, which proved to be the best choice for the job due to its ability to fit into smaller rigs and operate on familiar software. Despite challenges posed by the congested area and hard granite, Jeff Owens completed the job successfully with just one day of on-site training and phone support. This bore highlights the versatility of the Fusion-Gyro in small rig markets and the ease of operation for trained steering hands.
